Does Jehovah have a Holy Mountain located some place on earth?
Micah 4:1-2 says in part: "In the final part of the days, The mountain of the house of Jehovah Will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, And it will be raised up above the hills, And to it peoples will stream." 2 "And many nations will go and say: 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah And to the house of the God of Jacob. He will instruct us about his ways, And we will walk in his paths.' For law will go out of Zion, And the word of Jehovah out of Jerusalem."
In this scripture, there is no actual Mountain of Jehovah. It is a figurative Mountain. You can tell because of the activity carried on in this Mountain. This (The Mountain) is the place of his pure worship, elevated above all false religions.
Isaiah 2:1-3 says: "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem." This could therefore not be a literal Mountain in that Jehovah's "house" cannot be a literal house nor could it literally be on top of "Mountains" since that just wouldn't make any logical sense. Further, where it says "let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah" also could not be literal in that this would limit Jehovah's worshipers to those that were fit and able to climb a mountain. And on top of this, there are no physical instructions as to the physical location of that mountain.
This is not to say that the Bible does not refer to Mountains as locations. He did this. While Jesus was on the Mount of Olives (a physical location) a conversation took place between Jesus and his disciples. Yes, this was a literal mountain in Jerusalem and a place where there was to be a meeting. The Mount of Olives is in Jerusalem, sometimes also referred to as Mount Olives is an important landmark, located next to the Old City of Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives refers to the ridge located east of the Old City and gets its name from the olive groves that at one time covered the land.
This meeting was held as described in Matthew 24:3 says in part, "while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, . . . " In fact there are many mountains referred to in the Bible that were physical locations here on earth. But the one we are referring to is Jehovah's Holy Mountain. He also referred to this Mountain many times as being a place of safety for his people. He also referred to the Worlds governments as Mountains, or smaller governments like townships or states governments as Hills. This is where it gets interesting because when Jehovah refers to worldly governments as mountains, he says that people will flee to their mountains and hills for refuge.
Do you think you could do it? Christ Jesus warned us to flee to the mountains. These mountains symbolize a place of refuge which is associated with God’s mountain: “And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” (Isa. 2:2, 3, AS) Note that this mountain of Jehovah is on top of all other mountains, above all other hills. If it is literal, it means it is higher than Everest! If you cannot climb Everest, how could you hope to scale this still higher one? Yet the Bible shows men and women and children from all nations, a great crowd of them, making a successful climb to the mountain of Jehovah. Obviously, the mountain we ascend is not a literal one but is something symbolized by mountains. Ascending a literal mountain higher than all others would be not only impossible for most of us but also ineffective in securing safety from Jehovah’s wrath: “Though they dig into Sheol, thence shall my hand take them; and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and it shall bite them.” (Amos 9:2, 3, AS) But flight to Jehovah’s new system of things is now made possible for peoples of all nations, and since it is of Jehovah’s making it will be a place of safety, untouched by his wrath. And just as Isaiah’s prophecy spoke of the mountain of Jehovah as being above all other mountains, so this holy place of worship under Christ is superior to and above all earthly governments of this old world. Why did Jesus advise “fleeing to the mountains”? To escape “great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.” That tribulation is a war, a war from heaven, and the field where it is waged is “called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.” (Matt. 24:16, 21, NW; Rev. 16:16) But this topic leads us into a different direction rather than staying with the Definition of a figurative Mountain.
The symbolic mountain of Jehovah’s pure worship is becoming more prominent, so that meek persons can see how it contrasts with the sectarian “hills” and “mountains” or Governments of Satan’s permissive world. They “get out” of false religion and flee in growing numbers to Jehovah’s mountain of worship.—Haggai 2:7; Revelation 18:2, 4, 5; Psalm 37:10, 11. What would be the purpose of fleeing if not to find safety? So, Flee to where? To the mountains. Literal ones? No, that would bring no safety at Armageddon. (Amos 9:2, 3) The mountains must be outside the realm of Christendom, just as the literal ones to which Christians fled A.D. 66 were outside Jerusalem and Judah. The mountains to which lovers of righteousness now flee in obedience to Christ’s command are the New World theocratic system of things Jehovah has created. (Isa. 65:17) This new system of things is entirely separate from this old world that rapidly approaches the end of its days, and to the symbolical mountains peoples of all nations go to learn true worship: “And it shall come to pass in the end of days, that the mountain of Jehovah’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow unto it. And many peoples shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” (Isa. 2:2, 3, Da) There only is safety found.
Christians cannot serve two masters. We cannot be for both Satan’s world and Christ’s kingdom. (Matt. 6:24; Jas 1:27) The clergy say we are to blame for corrupt government by not voting; we say they share the blame by their voting. (1 Tim. 5:22) We must not enter politics to clean it up; we must escape its plagues by staying out. (Rev. 18:4) To shun politics puts us on the defensive before men; by entering it the clergy are on the defensive before God. For separateness we may be accused of sedition against Caesar, but for mixing in the clergy are guilty of spiritual adultery against God. Men are indifferent when the clergy wrong God. Nevertheless, religion in politics means war with God. Fear God, not the world. It looks big if we face it alone. If we face it with God it is no more than a drop in the bucket, no more than a speck on the scales. And who is afraid of a drop of water, or scared of a speck of dust?
Revelation 17:9 “This calls for a mind that has wisdom: The seven heads mean seven mountains, where the woman sits on top.
